In just three years, the Idaho Falls Spud Kings have evolved from a brand-new junior hockey team into a powerhouse organization, earning their place as NCDC Mountain Division Champions and 2025 Dineen Cup Champions. Founded in 2022, the Spud Kings launched with a vision to create an elite hockey experience in Idaho Falls. Fueled by a devoted fanbase, a driven staff, and a championship mindset, the team quickly became one of the most exciting franchises in the USPHL.

From Humble Beginnings to National Recognition

The Spud Kings began in Tier III of the USPHL and quickly made a name for themselves. In their inaugural season (2022–23), they finished 5th in the Mountain Division and clinched a spot in the playoffs—an impressive feat for a first-year team.

In 2023, the Spud Kings were promoted to Tier II and joined the National Collegiate Development Conference (NCDC). In their debut NCDC season (2023–24), the team advanced to the conference semifinals, laying the groundwork for their breakout 2024–25 campaign.

The 2024–25 season was one for the record books. With a 38–10–4–1 record, the Spud Kings dominated the Mountain Division and went on to win the division playoffs and ultimately the Dineen Cup—a testament to their commitment, coaching, and culture.
